University College coordinates the General Education Core Curriculum, which includes the common courses required of all students pursuing undergraduate degrees from Texas State. University College helps transfer student get their previous course work applied to Texas State's core curriculum components. The college is also the home of the university's "undeclared" program, which is for students who have not yet decided on a major, as well as the National Student Exchange (NSE), which allows participants to attend one or two semesters at NSE institutions for in-state tuition rates, and the Bachelor of General Studies program. This program offers an interdisciplinary degree for students with specialized academic interests.

Academic advising is available from your college or departmental advising center or a designated department advisor. Students who have not yet declared majors, those preparing for admission to the Emmett & Miriam McCoy College of Business Administration, those in the Bachelor of General Studies program, and others with questions on general advising or the core curriculum may obtain academic advising from University College.
