Texas State is proud of the accomplishments of our athletes. The football team won the Southland Conference and progressed to the NCAA Division I-AA (now known as the Football Championship Series) semifinals in 2005. The volleyball team took back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament's first round in 2004 and 2005 under the leadership of Karen Chisum, a Texas State alumnus and one of only nine head coaches in NCAA volleyball history to achieve more than 600 wins. Our track team has produced Olympians, including high jump gold medalist Charles Austin; our women's soccer team draws one of the top 30 largest crowds in the country; and our basketball program sent player Jeff Foster to the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
