Welcome to the web site of the Mentoring Program!
The Mentoring Program is a student service provided by the Vice President for Student Affairs Office. The program pairs incoming freshmen and transfer students with staff, faculty, and peer/student mentors. The commitment to help new Texas State students acclimate to campus has resulted in higher GPAs and increased retention. The Mentoring Program gives new students opportunities to have a successful first year and supports students through academic and social activities.
If you were unable to attend this semesters orientation sessions please view the following orientation powerpiont, and then email us at mentoring@txstate.edu letting us know that you have viewed it, and your status (mentee or mentor). This will fufill your orientation requirement.
The Mentoring Program is proud of all of our mentees and mentors who have worked so hard over the 2007-2008 school year. This year, Dawson Munoz and Pat Pattison were chosen as the Mentee and Mentor of the Year, respectively. The award carried more significance for this pair, because in the 15 years of the existence of this program, this is first occurance of a mentoring pair receieving this honor. Dawson & Pat shared the last year as a successful, supportive pair, and we are very proud to honor them as Mentor and Mentee of the Year!
We currently have more mentors then mentees. As more mentees apply for the program, we will continue to match them with a compatible mentor.
